Dr James McTague
Dr James McTague is married with three grown children.
A Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over thirty years of experience with children, teens, adults and senior citizens. He has worked in medical, physical rehabilitation, substance abuse rehabilitation and psychiatric facilities in rural, suburban and inner-city settings.
James’ expertise grew from practical experience and interests in helping families and individuals overcome life’s roadblocks, disappointments, tragedies and traumas over the past twenty-five years.
As one of ten children, he experienced first hand the stress, collective struggles, and loss a large family on limited means can face. James earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University, and a Doctorate degree from Argosy, formerly known as the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Later interning at the West Side VAMC in Chicago. His dissertation was a study on collaborative relationships with behavioral health service providers and medicine.
James trained in Family therapy at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Later gaining additional speciality training in Behavior Medicine, Family Therapy, and Christian Counseling. Often consulting with physicians, ministers / ministerial alliances, attorneys, schools, community leaders, and corporate managers.
He has provided training for medical and psychology interns/residents and taught as an adjunct instructor on the college level, as well as given lectures and workshops to community and children groups.
Listed as a member of the American Psychological Association. The American Association of Christian Counselors and the National Register of Health Service Providers.
Through a lifetime of experiences and training, Dr McTague understands the personal courage and anguish that individuals and families experience in their struggles with life transitions.
